Our collaboration focuses on delivering a sophisticated, user-centric interface that allows for deep customization across an extensive range of jewellery styles, gemstones, and colors.
REVAMPING THE COLOR BAR: A DATA-DRIVEN UX REFRESH
YR recently completed a comprehensive UX/UI refresh designed to streamline the customer journey and maximize conversion. This project focused on implementing key functional improvements based on direct user feedback and research. Key enhancements included:
- Faceted Navigation: We introduced a structured navigation system that allows users to filter gemstones by color, name, or birthstone association, making it easier to explore a vast library of options.
- Mobile-First Navigation: The mobile experience was optimized by replacing standard arrow sliders with an intuitive vertical scrolling system for gemstone selection.
- On-Model Visualization: To help customers better visualize size and style, we integrated lifestyle imagery showing models wearing customized Color Bar pieces.
- High-Resolution Swatches: We replaced stylized thumbnails with realistic, high-resolution gemstone images to accurately represent color and texture.
RESULTS: DRIVING ENTERPRISE SUCCESS
The impact of this technical refresh was immediate and substantial. Following the launch of the updated configurator, Kendra Scott reported a 56% increase in sales through the Color Bar. This success underscores the critical importance of continuous innovation in online personalization and the massive impact that subtle UX refinements can have on overall performance metrics.
TECHNICAL ARCHITECTURE: SCALABLE LOGIC
The Kendra Scott platform utilizes a headless architecture that manages a highly complex logic layer. With thousands of possible combinations across metal types, stone shapes, and colors, the YR engine ensures that every customer design is captured as a precise JSON Recipe ID. This data is transmitted seamlessly to the Kendra Scott e-commerce system at the “Add to Cart” stage, supporting their global logistics and fulfillment network.
